Since fall 2013, Andreas Zühlke has taken over the programmatic work with the brass ensemble of the orchestra as well as substitute direction of rehearsals of the entire orchestra. He began his training on the trumpet at the young age of seven. The Fürstenwalde native found his first musical home as a 10-year old at the 1st Brandenburg Guard Wind Band, to which he has not only remained faithful since then but where he also took over the direction of development work with young players a few years later. Since 2007 he is one of two musical directors of the entire wind orchestra.

Andreas Zühlke, a versatile trumpeter, has gained experience in a variety of musical styles and ensembles - from Big Band, the State Wind Orchestra, Dixieland and traditional popular music to work in symphony orchestras. He developed his conducting skills during his studies in music education with a major in trumpet at Potsdam University and in special conducting courses in a cooperation of the State Police Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Federal Police. His teachers include MD Siegmund Goldhammer, Gabriele Tschache, Prof. Kristian Commichau, Prof. Peter Vierneisel, MD Peter Brünsing and Peter Feigel. In addition to his conducting work with the 1st Brandenburg Guard Wind Band, Andreas Zühlke has served as second conductor in project work phases of the Brandenburg State Youth Wind Orchestra since 2010. His training and activities in education have brought him to the high schools “Evangelisches Gymnasium am Dom zu Brandenburg” and “Evangelisches Gymnasium Hermannswerder” in Potsdam as a teacher of wind classes. After finishing his university studies, he took a position as music and biology teacher at the “Berthold-Brecht-Gymnasium” in the city of Brandenburg.
